Ginza Suehiro (Fuji)

Ginza Suehiro Fuji is a steakhouse in Inokashira, Fujinomiya, on the edge of the Asagiri Highland. Its roots reach back to a Western-style restaurant founded in Osaka in 1910, and to the branch opened in Ginza 6-chome in 1933 that became Ginza Suehiro; the Fuji branch was later opened here at the foot of Mount Fuji. The signature dish is steak grilled on a plate of Mount Fuji lava stone. Lava stone radiates far-infrared heat efficiently, so the meat cooks in a way that brings out its natural character. No sauce is used here. The house style is to enjoy the beef itself with premium soy sauce and Western mustard.

Menu and price guide

The menu runs along two lines: steaks ordered on their own, and sets that come with rice, salad and grilled vegetables. Prices published as of 2026 are roughly as follows.

• Premium sirloin, about 3,500 yen
• Premium fillet, about 5,100 yen
• Marbled A4 Japanese Black sirloin, about 5,200 yen
• Sets from about 6,300 yen (the Suehiro Kiwami set, made with Kagoshima black beef, is about 14,800 yen)

Seating, parking and reservations

Table seats and tatami rooms together give roughly 60 to 70 seats, and there is parking for 40 cars. Reservations can be made by phone or online, so booking ahead is reassuring if you plan to stop by at a weekend or during a holiday season. The restaurant is listed as closed on Mondays and on the third Tuesday of the month, staying open on public holidays and taking a substitute day off instead.

Getting there from our hotel

Our hotel is in Fuji City, right beside the Fuji interchange on the Tomei Expressway. From the Fuji IC, head north on National Route 139 for about 30 km, roughly 40 minutes by car. The road runs through the pastures of the Asagiri Highland, and in clear weather you drive with Mount Fuji straight ahead of you. By public transport, take a Fujikyu bus from JR Shin-Fuji Station for about an hour and get off at Inokashira-iriguchi, which is right by the restaurant. Lake Tanuki, Jinba Falls and Shiraito Falls are all in the area, so this pairs well with a drive around the Asagiri Highland.
