What kind of place it is

caffe kofka is a coffee specialist cafe tucked into the Chuo-cho district, about a five-minute walk north of JR Fujinomiya Station. It opened in 2021 in a renovated building that had been a Japanese confectionery shop, and took its present name in 2022. The name is said to come from the words Coffee and Cacao. The calm interior is lined with tables for two and seats around 15 people, and there is a covered terrace as well.

Coffee and local ingredients

The house signature is proper espresso pulled on an espresso machine. Specialty coffees from producing regions around the world are served, and beans that have placed in the Cup of Excellence (COE) sometimes appear on the list. Milk comes from the Asagiri Highlands just up the road, while the matcha and green tea are from Shizuoka, so the drinks are built around ingredients gathered at the foot of Mount Fuji. The latte that pairs Shizuoka matcha with espresso is a perennial favourite, and alongside caffe latte, cappuccino and americano you can also choose hand drip, French press or espresso soda.

Food, menu and what to expect to pay

Light meals centre on bagel sandwiches, offered in several versions such as vegetable or ham fillings. There are also pasta lunch sets, cake and dessert sets, and affogato. A drink together with a light meal comes to roughly 1,000 to 2,000 yen (as of 2026). Drinks can be ordered to take away, and an English menu is available. How to enjoy it

Morning service runs from 8:00 to 10:30. The location lends itself to a first cup of the day before wandering through central Fujinomiya or visiting Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, about a ten-minute walk from the station. The cafe closes on Mondays and takes further irregular days off, with each month's opening days announced on the calendar on the official website. Opening hours are listed differently depending on the source, so checking before you set out is recommended. Seating is limited, so there can be a wait around lunchtime. Reservations by phone are accepted, and Wi-Fi and power outlets are available.

Getting there from our hotel

Our hotel sits near the Fuji interchange of the Tomei Expressway in Fuji City. Take the toll-free Nishi-Fuji Road, join National Route 139 and head toward Fujinomiya Station. The drive from the Fuji interchange to Fujinomiya Station is said to take about 12 minutes, so allow around 15 minutes from the hotel. Free parking for four cars is provided on the north side of the building. Plan on about an hour for a visit.
